2025 Interior Design Trend Predictions
Trends come and go in the interior design world and classic styles will always win out in the end, but we can’t help but feel a little thrill when we see a new trend that we know is going to make a big impact. 2024 saw the injection of a lot more colour and playfulness into interiors and we are happy to say that it is here to stay. So long beige interiors! 2025 is set to be an exciting year in the design world as we mark a quarter of a century in the 2000’s and some new and fresh perspectives arise. So, let’s have a chat about our predictions for interior design trends in 2025!
Stripes
Stripes will always be a classic pattern in our opinion and pair perfectly with specific design styles, however we are now seeing them grow in popularity for styling this season. As always, interior design and fashion go hand in hand and we have been seeing stripes as a huge trend all year in fashion, so we have no doubt it will be making its way into interiors very soon. Stripes can be used in upholstered furniture pieces such as bench seats, occasional chairs and beds or soft furnishings such as curtains, rugs and cushions. To ensure your stripey decorating remains modern I suggest opting for a colour paired with white (in lieu of black) or a combination of neutral stripes.
Deep Reds & Burgundy’s
Interior design is about to get a lot more refined and sophisticated when it comes to decorating and styling. Of course, this won’t suit every home, and the Australian lifestyle always leans a little bit more coastal, however we will be seeing a lot more deep reds and burgundy’s make an appearance in interior design in 2025. Think beautiful deep ruby reds paired with tarnished brass and more ornate detailing for an ’oh so chic’ look. This colour works especially well in fabric, textiles and soft furnishings, so try adding a burgundy fabric bedhead to the bedroom or some deep red velvet cushions to the sofa for a contemporary look.
Colourful Kitchens
And when we say colourful, we mean colourful. Think banana yellow, pastel pink, deep burgundy or mint green. Obviously, this will be mainly for the daring renovators amongst us as a kitchen cabinetry colour will need to last many years. This trend pays homage to the mid-century modern style kitchens where pastel coloured cabinetry was the norm and fun mosaic tiled splashbacks in candy colours were seen in most homes. Commercial interior design will be where we see this the most with restaurant and café fit outs embracing a more colourful palette and design style.
Florals
Think Martha Stewart and English country grandma, florals are back in a beautiful and refined way for 2025. When selecting floral prints for your home I recommend choosing small, patterned florals in soft and neutral tones instead of bold maximalist floral designs. These pair perfectly with a classic interior design style and are easy to inject into your home through wallpaper, soft furnishings and decorative accents. Draw inspiration from British interiors and look at places such as Soho Farmhouse and Daylesford for that chic, English country garden look.
